Default Sweet Computer Broke - 07-18-2007, 01:12 AM

Ok, here is the deal. My sweet computer won't boot. I hav tried replacing the ram, nope. When i take the video card out it beeps as it is booting, but rebeeps as a boot error (due to vid card missing). My guess is the video card, but the video card might be alright because it says 450w power supply required, but it ran fine before on my 350. Mboard is fine because it is brand new. Could it be the hard drive? Need some help.

Does your computer turn on at all?
When you turn it on is it just black?
What was the last thing you did with your computer?

U say mb is new, Did the card run on that with the low PSU? And before you buy anything expensive upgrade your PSU to at least 450watts, alot of problems happen because of too little power.

If your powersupply came with the case, it probably burned out. Switch one if possible.

Ok, the computer will turn on, but will not boot. All the fans will be running and the motherboard LED that shows it is getting power is on. Basically everything is running and it will not boot. Also, the screen remains black, then the moniter gets no signal and goes into sleeping mode. The powersupply did come with the case. I have another 350w powersupply and ill switch them and see what happens. The last thing i dod was play halo or warrock on it cant remember. After then i regreased the cpu with heat grease cause it came with some low quality kind. After that it didn't work.

I see, an inefficient powersupply can still cause your computer to not boot, even if all the fans and such is running. The next thing I will go for after the switch is the HardDrive.

What kind of graphics card is it? I'd double and triple check all of the connections, make sure the proc is seated correctly, and the video card is in tight, screwed or clamped down (however your case does it). But man, you need a bigger PSU. I don't see how the hard drive could be the problem though.

Check PSU of course obvious answer, upgrade to 450 when you can, check your power setting switch as well i believe it is supposed to be 125 in america, can't remember though. May also want to get an additional case fan or use an alternate cooling system.

Good Luck!
