Default How to Host PC Games Using DSL Modem only, screenies included

NOTE- Some computers may be different with they way that they are setup, but I will do my best to help you. I am using Bellsouth Fastaccess DSL, so mine may be different, but DSL is pretty much the same-NOTE

Other side note- I have blocked my name and ip numbers from pictures for my security

Step 1. Click Start, then click on Run
Step 2. Type in Command in the run box
Step 3. Type in Ipconfig and hit enter
Step 4. Look For Your Default GateWay
Step 5. Type that Default Gateway number into a web browser such as Internet Explorer, Firefox, Netscape etc
Step 6. Now we are in your modem, there should be a selection on that page that says something similar to home network, NAT/Gaming.. Were looking for NAT/GAMING
Step 7. Once You have found the NAT/GAMING there should be a drop bar that says something like Predefined Service. Select Blizzard Battle.net from the list and click enable
Step 8. Tada, now turn off all firewalls from virus programs like macafee and norton and etc. now go and host a game on Warcraft 3 and have fun

PICTURES

Steps 6 and 7 both have 2 pictures, so follow them in order

5 years ago, i remember having this problem, this is the default way to doing it. but the thing is it leaves u Open to anyone who wonts to play some games , "games". You might not be playing a game or not even by your pc and sence u open them ports for all flow traffic. well lets just say dont piss someone off who knows what they are doing

But im not saying this will happin sence you are at a low risk but if someone in your ISP Network Wonts to do some scanning they can pick you up and see you have open active ports.

yeah but most ppl dont how to hack into your internet and i dont make ppl mad lol

and at warrior. This guide was for direct connection only. if you need router assistance theres a site called port forwarding or something. google it.

A modem all u have to do is cut off the firewall within the modem. A router is alot more tricky and I dont own one. Since a router runs off 2 or more connections you have allow certain port connections only normally its like 6112-6117 or somethin but go to google and type "PortForwarding"

And thx pam

If using wireless router it can be a little different. It might be under firewall settings or port forewarding settings. You will just have to look around for it.

Also when you go to run you may also have to type in cmd instead of command. And if both fail command promp is under programs>accessories.
