Default Installing my Graphic card - 05-01-2007, 08:41 PM

hey guys, i have had this grapjic card for a while and havnt successfully installed it and made it work but now i thought i had it but still no dice i will tell what i have done.By the way its a Diamond Stealth S60 PCI
1.Installed the driver. (only a .dat file tho....)
2.turned off and put in the graphic card
3.set the BIOS for for Pci Primary or w.e ( Also I have a Really OLD graphic card in it right now thats why i wanna get ride of it. Its a Diamond Speedstar A55 LOL like 8mb(AGP).
4.turned back on and it stays in black screen... like standby.

Questions:
1. do i disable my old graphic card? its labbled in the "Other Devices" (Called:video controller (AGP capatible)
2. What else can i do????? So VERY VERY FRUSTRATING!!!!

try to boot up your computer with everything in it. dont go into you bios to disable the older card. when it is running, it should detect the new card. it sounds like to me that it still hasnt recognized the pci driver. once you complete all of that, you should be able to switch cards via the display settings. (my guess)

Or you could be just missing the driver to run both graphics cards so it is only recognizing your old one. There could be a lot of problems but that is my best guess. When i had to put a second graphics card in my computer i had to download a driver to run both graphics cards. The only way i could read the new one is by removing the old one completely then it just autoed the new one.

the drivers should be on the cd.. well hmm
uninstall your new card. restart everything, (have your card in there).
windows should recoqnize that you have a new piece of hardware. and follow that steps.
basicaly dont install the driver before hand. let wwindows do it for you

its a simple fix. use the old one for a moment while the new one is installed. right click the desktop and go to properties. the display properties will open. go to settings. on the old one disable 'use this device as the primary monitor' and uncheck 'extend my windows desktop onto this monitor' click apply. now switch to the new one. it'll run on the new one now. dont forget to make the new one your primary
