McAfee is NOT shit. It is the best paid antivirus on the market... but not the best antivirus. There are three or four free anti-viruses that beat any of the ones that charge money, my favorite is AVG Free. There is a link in my signature that will take you to the homepage for AVG Free, just click download and find the latest version install for windows. You wont be dissapointed, it's a good antivirus.

AVG Features

Resident Sheild (auto-virus protection)

Email Scanner (scans emails\email attatchments for viruses)

Scheduler (automatic updates\scans)

Bootup Scanner (scans the main system files before windows is started... only takes about 10 seconds)

Internet Updates

Virus Vault (quarantine)

and of course... a kickass scanning engine.

Lol, mcafee ruined my comp and made it slower but its better than nothing. Personnally I think AVG Free is retarded but I still use it. The reason why I think its retarded because it says my counter strike is a trojan and the cursor xp to give me diff cursors from stardock is a trojan. and it says the renders are trojans. but yea wat ever lol.

Antivir is ok, as is Avast. Two other good free antiviruses.

McAfee wasn't what messed up your comp unless you tried to download a crack or something and got a virus. I hate it when people say a program "messed up my computer" when normally it is just viruses and things that do it.

I do notice in your guide you say beside McAfee "( This would be my last choice if your lazy and dont like to pay )" when McAfee does cost money. Please know what you are talking about before you post.

Actually, McAfee has a free virus removal tool they call "McAfee AVERT Stinger" (see: http://vil.nai.com/vil/stinger/), which is not a complete solution.
I prefer AVG 7.0 Free myself, it has never let me down in any way whatsoever. I have also installed AVG on about 200+ computers so far, still no problems. You can get it at: http://free.grisoft.com

Man I really don't suggest Norton for you, I really really don't but that's fine, it is your decision. I had nothing but headaches when I used it until I switched.

Stinger is just for some *****-to-remove viruses that are tough to detect and deal with... but it is a good utillity when you have on of those viruses listed. (As are CWS Shredder if you have a cool web search infection, etc.)

Hello fellow AVG lover = D

Ok, if AVG Virus scanner is so "perfect" then why does it say counter strike and all the other renders i download are viruses.

Maybe because you downloaded them from a site that called them renders when they were viruses... ? Where they in ZIP files?

I never have a problem with any of my renders being detected, I am sure if you check Virus Total or Jottis Malware Scan, many of the antiviruses will detect a virus and there really will be one (those sites scan one file with a bunch of Antiviruses, both including AVG in the list).

AVG is not known for false positives (detect a virus when it's not there), some other antiviruses like NOD32 and Avast get them more often...

McAfee is good but sometimes it can mess up ur comp. IT does use alot of memory but scans fast and detects very good.

Some flaws just would be the updater because u can only update automatically and u can't manually. Also, its not compatible with ZA anymore.

But its god, i use AVG and it already found 1 virus in my comp from scanning

It uses a low amount of proccess and memory compared to most anti-viruses, get the latest updates online and run a full scan either now or overnight... you should always do that when you get a new antivirus

Any problems\questions, PM me and I will be happy to help you
