Video or Processor

I have an odd problem if any of you can help.
When I play diablo2 (back when I had an enigma) I could tele basically instantly. The problem is when i casted it I never moved until about 1-2 seconds after I actually casted it. If i held the button I'll literally cast in one place like 5 times then when I go there and leave off the button I'll disappear and reapear in the same place for how many evertimes I casted it.
The question is do need a better processor or a better video card or something totally different?

It sounds like it could be internet.. It shouldnt need a new video card, because diablo2 doesnt require an awesome video card..

It's definitely an internet problem. Does lag like that only happen on D2? Do you have 56k?

AOL is bad, i feel for u man, the web browser is the worst designed piece of coding **** that i have ever used.....and i've played runescape

or get DSL, but netzero seems to be ok for dialup, we used it for a while b4 we got qwest

Internet doesn't matter.Where you stay it matters.Example:If you live away of big cities then you will have a lot of latency or lag but if you stay in the center of NY then you will go awesome fast.Also the fcr is used at tele.Upgrade your internet connection to DSL or check if you have a virus or smth like that........

well qwest dsl is slow for 1.5 megs and the 5.0 megs cost 50$

use road runner, 100x faster then qwest 1.5 and it costs only $44.95. o well first 6 months at $34.95 too :P

besides the internet, you could try putting in more RAM. that works too. look at the frame rate in your game to see if it is indeed a lag problem or a framerate problem. go to the chat window and type in: /fps

increasing ram is done by upgrading your memory card (SDRAM, DDR, DDR2/3 ETC.) if your computer was built (NOT prebuilt) then you can tweak your processor to go faster. Also, if you already have a video card installed in a pci or agp slot, find its type and get a program to overclock the videocard too.

I took old parts and built a decent computer and only spent 20 bucks just to get a cd rom for it and it works well on aol. You just need to tweak your computer a bit to make it run with diablo 2 better.

Also for the framerate. If when I type in /fps what number range would be slow, medium, and fast?

idealy the number should be as high as possible. average is 30 i think.
