Default Best AV? - 01-15-2006, 06:57 AM

what's the best antivirus software out there?

My current list of TOP ones is as follows:

Panda Titanium 2006 w/ Antispyware
Bitdefender PRO 9
Kaspersky Personal Pro 5
NOD32 2.51.8

Which one is the best out of these and why?

Thx

There's no clear winner. Just use 2, what one doesn't pick up the other will.

I wouldn't use any of those in the list seeing how I have never heard of them. :P. I would, however, recommend AVG Free.

I've heard of all of them, and there all very highly acclaimed. AVG is also good too though, as is Free AntiVir

Defiantly would have to say Norton 2006 with systemworks 2006 is the best. They work good together.

Zone Alarm has been one of the best firewalls I have ever had.. Well for a free one I would say it is pretty good. Only once and a while something would get through, and then AVG would take care of it.. If anyone is internested, I would also recommend AdAwareSE Personal, and Spybot Search & Destroy.

From your list, all that I see are great except bit which I do not know.

I suggest that you use AVG Free though. It is the best in my opinion for killing viruses (second place goes to McAfee)

For a firewall, Zone Alarm Free or Sygate (I can't vouche for Sygate, but I have heard good things. Big thumbs up on ZoneAlarm).

For anti-spyware get Spybot AND AdAware SE (both free). What one misses the other is sure to pick up.

If you will not use these for some strange reason, you can get Windows Anti Spyware (BETA).

Note: I think that Windows AntiSpyware was renamed recently. You may wish to Google it.
