Sorceress One of the rebellious women who have wrested the secrets of magic use from the male dominated Mage-Clans of the East, the Sorceress is an expert in mystical creation ex nihilo. Though somewhat lacking in the skills of hand-to-hand combat, she compensates for this with fierce combative magics for both offense and defense.

Explain the difference in the armor and what effect it adds/subtracts to your character.

Shiver gives a defense bonus and slows and damages anything that does a melee attack against you.

Chilling gives a slightly lower defense bonus and slows and damages anything that uses a ranged attack against you.

The damage isn't significant. Thus, you look at slowing and defense bonus. The defense bonus difference between the two isn't much, but it is something. It really is a tossup, imo, and personal preference. Ranged attackers are quite dangerous, because they gang up and the ability to slow them is nice, but so is the ability to slow melee attackers if you teleport into them by accident.

Edit: If you'd like to know what *I* would do, in your case... I would put one point into each and let your + to skills take care of the rest and put the points you would have put into either into a different skill. Like a second element?

I usually put one in each, and I use Chilling exclusively. A melee character shouldn't be that close.

Personally (IF I played D2) ~cough~ I would go for armor that also has defense against a ranged attack....when engaged in a melee battle the ranged attack from another mob is the difference between life and death.

im a blizz scorc so im thinkin that ranged attackers shouldnt be much of a problem. I like the idea of puttin one in each instead of pumpin em so i got some points for attack skills.

P.S- Pam it is nice to c u tryin to help out people, even outside your field. *cough*diablo*cough*
P.S>S - Not to be offensive as in like ur takin care of the users and hav their better in mind =]

Your down to Chilling and Shiver armor? I put one point into Frozen armor. Going all the way down to Chilling armor means you just put two extra points. Which means two points you could of used for Icebolt or mastery.

Frozen armor - Gives defence rating +freezes target

Shiver - Gives defence rating (slightly more) +freeze target and damage (barely any damage)

Chilling - Gives defence rating +Discharges an Icebolt to the enemy

Frozen armor has maybe 10-15% more defence
Chilling armor will have very weak damage

I suggest just put one into frozen.
