What is love?

I have been asked to define love recently.I will give my views and please feel free to add your own.

I was sitting with a group of people and when asked what love meant to them,there were the obvious *cookie cutter* answers about how they want to be/percieve love as being.Most all said "I want to be loved unconditionally."

When it became my turn I had a bit different aspect.
Asking for unconditional love just PUT a condition ON it. Love has many forms and degrees of depth.
I love people in different manners because they are different people.
My feelings for them are specific to them alone.

Let me just state this if I may...it is a myth that love is blind...true love is far from it.
You can TRULY love many people,friends,relatives.

True love is not being blind to their flaws or quirks,it is seeing them for who they are and loving them anyway.

I love some of their flaws and eccentricities.It makes them the unique individual they are.

Just something I wanted to throw out there as I was asked about it recently.

hmm, love is honest? trusting? caring? not blind. It should be! it is also foolish and accepting. It is many things; forgiving definetely. Love is a choice!

I just checked back on this thread and waxed a bit poetic. When I found out about my Mom,my best friend and Game Husband was as upset as me,and I wrote this for him.

Love is a chemical reaction in your brain when someone does something you want/need.
It's basically want and need.
People think it's magic and special, but realy it's nothing like that, it may sound cold and harsh but it's essentialy true.

You all that think it is just chemicals,have basically known some great moments of being in "Lust" True love is not only for a lifemate,and family,but also shared with special people.
I can love you,but that doesn't mean I'm "In Love" with you.

Falling in and out of lust IS chemical ,hell I am in lust with Brad Pitt!

Being "In Love" means waking to bad breath,rotten disposition,hair that looks combed by a lawn mower,and still feeling your heart melt,even after 26 years of marriage.

As Phallock stated,Love is a choice.

Love is when your in 3rd period Ap English 11 and you always have to turn around and look at what that cute girl Kristine is doing and try to impress her by saying something smart in the class.
