PaladinThe Paladin is the character that is perhaps more suitable to the multi-player game. But make no mistake; he is still capable of taking on the greatest of battles. Many of his aura powers can affect more than one player so he should always be part of a group.

No offense to the person that made this... but there's nothing much to a smiter. Get a good 2-3k smite dmg and some crushing blow and you can take any melee accept posibility of a good barb with a lot of life or a zealer that gets a good fast hit. If you want bad manners get exile/dracs/lacerator...
keitaro using doom zerk, with no other +ias stuff is pretty slow, doom ws is better...
however zerk has better range than ws. normally i would pick the faster weapon, but doom already has 45 ias. on a berserker axe, 9 more ias is required for fastest smite with lvl 20 fanat. only 5 more ias is needed with a lvl 27 fanat.
if u're on ladder tho, grief blows all the other smiter weapons outta the water.

Just in case you are right about the "grief", what is the best weapon to set it in? BA?
@Keitaro
i would probably go with BA for smiting, for the range, since grief comes with 30-40ias. u'll need 15-24 more ias depending on ur fanat lvl, which isn't hard to get.
for a zealot however, since range usually isn't a factor, i would go with phase blade since no additional ias is needed for fastest zeal. the slightly lower base dmg compared to a BA is insignificant.
@ig0tfish
maybe u don't have everything u need yet, ie. 10 combat gcs.

What you say now, confuses me.
Are you saying that the range of your weapon is added to the shield?
I thought their range worked separatly..(I have no clue how its spelled)
i know it doesn't make much sense, and i don't know why blizz had to make it this way, but smite range is dependent on the weapon, not the shield (shields have no range). if u have a BA (range 3), ur smite will reach farther and hit first against a smiter with a range 1 or 2 weapon.
what i WANT blizz to do is implement shield smite range (2x2 shield = range 1, 2x3 shield = range 2, 2x4 shield = range 3...something like that). they should use this instead of weapon range, just so it makes more sense. that's gonna have to be another patch lol.
but if u are able to get the extra bit of ias without sacrificing anything, then u might as well have the extra range of a BA. i would actually suggest a war axe, but i don't think many ppl would want that.
i didn't see anyone mention 15k dmg, but i heard that 12k is possible with grief+fortitude+phoenix. it's sorta overkill. chances are that an 8k dmg smiter will have significantly more life than a 12k dmg smiter, so it balances out.
yes, i did say that weapon range affects smite range. more specifically, i said that weapon range IS smite range.
