Necromancer A master of death, the Necromancer summons the Undead. He eventually has the power to bring the dead back to life. The early creatures you can control are Golems, Skeletons, then Skeleton Magi and increasingly powerful Golems.

Default How much can I slow down (%) a Boss? - 06-29-2007, 02:13 PM

Hi,
yesterday I killed NM Baal with my Summoner (SP game).
I quickly Tele'd to him and let my Revived charge the Boss.
From the back row 3 Ice Skeletal Mages were shooting.
I evoked a Clay Golem right behind the demon, and then cursed
Baal with Decrepify.
End result: Baal slowed down considerably and barely able to
counter my minions.

My Clay Golem currently slows down by 54%.
Ice mages can slow down (I assume) by 50%.
Decrepify slows down by 50% as well.

But Baal was definitely more slower than just 50% his normal speed,
so I take that all the 3 slowings were being applied to him
one after another.

For example, like this:
Baal (100%) slowed by Clay Golem (54%) = Baal (46%)
Baal (46%) slowed by Ice mage (50%) = Baal (23%)
Baal (23%) slowed by Decrepify (50%) = Baal (11%)

By the above formula the final speed of Baal becomes: 11%
From what I've seen it's a reasonable %, but I can't find
a confirmimation anywhere. Maybe there's a cap on how much
I can slow down a Boss =/ (Anyone knows?)

If I max out Clay Golem, he'll slow the target down by 63%.
And with some +Skills he can reach 70%, maybe.
Baal would then be slowed down to 7%

There's a big difference between 7% and 11%, sure, but I can't decide
if it's worth to spend that many points in Clay Golem.

Blood golem is much more useful against regular monsters and I
can't make up my mind.

Please share your opinion.
Ciao ciao : )

I can't give you any specific answers about the slow down percentage but I wouldn't put more than one into clay golem. From my experience, one skill point plus your items is enough to tank baal and most other bosses easy. Also, I have a eth upped kelpie snare and the 75% slow on that weapon will bring baal to a slow crawl.
