Based on what? Their deep lyrics? Or their ability to influence many musicians? They wrote some of the best songs rock has seen in 20 years.

Cobain was a hell of a lyricist and Grohl a hell of a drummer, Krist was a great bassist and unfortunately hes not doing anything today. Nirvana is a great band but to many people hold them waaay to high.

Its probably because of how the re-invented rock at the time...Rock music was pretty dead before they came along...at least in the early/mid 90's

Not really, I think the Seattle scene was kind of watered down thrash, and thrash was getting rid of bullshit glam metal.

I like the who,The Eagles,the doors,rolling stones,led zepplin,van halen,the beatles,and metallica,also nightwish and the misfits but they would never make a list for top 100 cuz not many people know about them

That is the whole point of a forum! To share your opinions, Debate etc. The trick is to do it in a mature manner. Everyone has their own opinion, and it even comes to play when you talk about the weather outside. Topics like that encourage people to share that opinion...add to the topic...etc~!!!!

Green Day should be up there, they have stood the test of time, and have evolved their music. I have liked them for 14 years now.

Green Day should not be anywhere near a "Top American Rock Bands" list because of what they've done. They try to act like they're Brits and make songs like "American Idiot." If your not rooting for the team get out of the damned stadium.

Zeplin was great for its time, but the current music industry? if you havent heard a song on the radio or mtv in the past 5 years you would notice all the bullshit they play, now Metal, 100% pure musicianship who needs lyrics when you've got a solo.

Music is all opinionated. there is not top 100 rock bands or best musical style. so quit the the 5th grade bullshit saying if you dont listen to rock then your not cool. its all stupid. just because someone doesnt listen to your style (s) doenst make them an idiot or a loser

my only tment was that muse wasn't on that list i guess it's because they haven't actually been around that long and are still finding their own style. They're still pretty good IMO. <-----
