Default Favorite Type of Music? - 11-02-2006, 12:26 AM

Post what music you like, and give reasoning behind your answer

My favorite type of music is rock and roll, due to the fact that it has awesome solos, and the lyrics actually stand for something, they dont just rhyme and sound funny, I would have to follow rock with Metal because metal is an evolution of rock just minus the kickass solos, but the rythms make up for that

metal doesnt have sweet solos? listen to any iron maiden song and you will be proven wrong! as you can probablyy assume, i am a metal fan. i love iron maiden, saxon, accept, manowar, hammerfall, just to name a few. i love the volcals and the screaming guitar.

o, sorry but i was referring to New Metal like Lamb of ***, Shadows Fall etc, yeah old metal still has kickass solos, but new metal just has average solos if ya get what i mean, i agree iron maiden is a great band, but to me thats classified under old rock to me, I like metal that has great backgrounds and heavy vocals, but not screaming, something i can halfway make out

some new metal has some great solos, children of bodom, shadows fall, ect all have their collection of great solos, probably typical metallica fan confusing kirk's overused pentatonic solos as great

Shit.

Between the Buried and Me, probably the most talented band out of anything I've heard from music in 20 years. Not only for how good they, but because they put so much theory behind their songs, ESPECIALLY Selkies: The Endless Obsession. A lot of their lyrics, although hard to understand, have strong messages and things of that nature.

I think Disturbed would just be rock or metal, I'm not really sure. Tool obviously has no variety, although I personally hate Tool with a passion, they are shit in my eyes. I find Dimmu Borgir and Hypocrisy to have amazing lyrics. I like Metal, Death/Black metal, thrash. I am currently in love with In Flames, I got their newest album and it's one of the few that I actually like every song on the band. Rammstein and Children of Bodom are quite high on my favs aswell. I love for In Flames has the hard style songs but the mellow chorus, they do an awsome job.

For me personally, the music I tend to turn on the most on iTunes are some Alternative songs, Oldies, and various Electronica (such as Club, Dance , Rave, Techno, and Trance). Something that has a good beat, and I can understand all or most of the lyrics (with electronica obviously a greater emphasis on beat since many times they tend to be less lyrical). Some songs I listen to may not even fit into a real genre and may be more random and out there (such as songs that may be most exclusively played in DDR games, theme songs and/or just songs from shows/movies/showtunes.

I do, however, have a very wide range of music that I will listen to; basically some of the stuff that does turn me away is Rock that is just so "Metally" or "Warped" that you can't even understand what the heck they are saying, and just about all Rap.

HEAVY ****ING METAL

Because there are so many intricacies and varieties of it, you can't beat a genre that has a thousand sub-genres, and I just love playin it, it's the shit you just can't beat the attitude...

Punk is a good second but if I got specific it would be different.

Favorite metal is Thrash, Classic, and Power... Unbeatable genre.

Up the irons to maiden my favorite band.

I listen to bands and to artists.I like a wide variety of music both for the beat and some songs I adore for the lyrics. The genre I listen to vary from Country to Rap to Classic Rock to Metal to the outright ludicrous Stephen Lynch.I listen to songs I like and I mix it up to keep it interesting.I have perhaps 20 playlists for Winamp.
Many of the songs I love I grew up with but my kids and online friends have interested me in music I would normally not have bothered to listen too.
Which is a great gift because music is a part of my life.I sometimes like songs that make me want to dance...sometimes songs that make me cry...but the best IMO are songs that have a special meaning to me.

I also like from soft alternative to death metal music, so you could say I have a huge variety.

Rammstein is Euro trash and In Flames' newest album is their worst to date.

I have variety. It's a very select variety where bands with talent get to be put.

Thats the same with me just mine is wide, but select. I like at least one band from each genre usually, emo doesn't count because it sucks though.

Don't think I have ever listened to Emo music, don't think I ever will either. And why is Rammstein Euro trash, because you can't understand what they are saying?

I find the instumentals quite immpressive. But that is just me. I like the beats more than the words.
