Has anyone heard of WWW.HallsofPain.com. Well, I believe I have, but more curious is how they got my eastern bn realm account name and email address, I didn't request that I be placed on any mailing lists at BN.,.... and then,... even more peculiar, why would they email me requesting my membership. I'm informed it's a combination donation funded chat/forum site like this but also, I gather, by thier literature,... a D2 lan (local area network) privatized realm (an internet club), sanctioned by Blizzard but required to operate within a narrowly defined set of rules which Blizzard has openly announced they intend to tighten.

The legal rule which Blizzard requires any LAN duplicate, i.e., a privatized, but "non-profit" clone of BN to operate by; is that the (privatized/mock up) LAN based d2 realm websites' administrator does not change in any way, or permit or allow the change, in any way, of the same thing people would experience on the official realm.

SO: Has anyone else gotten this junk mail yet? Or, is it junk mail? Is this worth getting involved with? What is it? Has anyone had their BN account name and thier BN registered email address confiscated by marketeers or opportunists lately? Or, is this a legit, trustworthy and reputable group of people at Halls fo Pain who have sincere and benign motives?

I don't know how they would have gotten your email address and account name. I can't think of any way, in the game, that they could have acquired this information. I believe that it would be legit though. I can't see how they would be able to steal your password for the real b.net or anything like that.

Also, stop trying to write fancy/sophisticated in your post. It's not working for you and takes away from your general point.

I am not trying to sound pretentious but the point was that the only people in possession of that information , BN , obviously provided it to someone, someone on the staff at that website. I have never even given my account name out on this website much less Halls of Pain , which I don't belong to, and which, I'm sure is not owned and operated by Blizzard. So, the question was, "what gives blizzard the right to sell my name on a mailing list, which, after all is what we are talking about. No one said anything about passwords. What is Halls of Pain about and why do they want bn players' email addresses besides possibly offering a chat community? Has anyone here at D2 sector joined a d2 club and played Diablo on a local area network? That's what I believe Halls of Pain is doing. Does anyone here belong to Halls of Pain? Are their staff indeed just do-gooders wanting to expand the D2 interest group. `
If it is completely legit and straightforward then someone here should know that to be the case and confirm it for me.

Hey, I am an admin over at hallsofpain. Your email account must have been registered to the website at one point or another, i sent a boardwide email announcment about bad realm, you probably used your account name as your board account name, i can assure you there is no foul play.

Mmmm sorry buddy, but I'm not really sure exactly what is going on here (try to keep it simple to allow us to understand); heck it took me long enough to figure that BN means B.net (I guess). I don't think they would provide your information to someone else, much less a website they wouldn't really want running in the first place.

Hopefully this Basher guy/HallsofPain can figure out your situation over on their side; I'd take a look, but I'm sure they can figure out the situation just as well and see if maybe you had actually joined the site and just forgot about it. I can keep a half eye open here if any help is needed, but I'd suggest just getting in contact with Basher and hopefully he can remove you from any listings (if that's what the problem is). Well its sounds like this basher person has explained why you might of gotten the email, is this what has happened to you?

I've heard of halls of pain before,but I've never heard anything bad about them.And it would be illegal for b.net to sell any account info/email addresses without specific permission.The dueling on east is outta hand.I might give bad a try,if I meet their requirements,lol.
