i i'm not modding gameplay-wise. i'm trying to experiment with shrinking the install size of d2+lod by cutting out videos and possibly music. managed to create a working d2video.mpq that has blank video files in it using MPQ Edit combined with Bink video tools. MPQ edit won't open the d2xvideo.mpq, d2xmusic.mpq or d2music.mpq though. might create a guide on it if successful though.

Edit: i managed to create a dummy d2xvideo.mpq :) now just trying to work on d2music and d2xmusic and possibly the speech as well

if you figure out how to shrink them drastically, like to 1gb maybe i would love to learn how to do this

I would go to phrozen keep and get the mpq stuff. I'd link, but I lack the numbers.
