Default Battle.net's Policy on Map Hack

Just so you know, talking to people that have had their accounts deleted in the past using map hack, when their accounts were banned, it was not at the time they were using map hack. it was like an over night type thing. (i dont know the validity of this completely) but it seems that they just sit back, let people use map hack and then ban them in one huge grove.

I dont buy into the anti-detection theory, they can always train their servers to read your map file to determine how much of the map is loaded and how long you been into a game to justify that amount of map displayed... there isnt any anti-detection that can stop that from happening. another part is if their servers just watch you play and detect that you can go straight to specified targets without searching around (common use is watch your path to get to mephy for MF runs)
the server could start tagging you and make a MH determination from that.

the last ban happened in a large chunk, it hasnt been alot of single ban's using hacks/dupes/ect...its been en mass....large large mass too

any thoughts or comments on this? :

i ask oppinions of this because i use maphack at current time..but have read tonight that they are just running up a list for another huge ban.

this would give them an advantage... by doing huge bans on people that had used map hack on an account in the past (even if they arent using it now) will keep the hack makers at bay so their not constantly altering programming to find ways to hide it. do a huge ban on different occassions and then people stop trusting that "undetectable" claim that the makers list...mean while, blizzards getting rich from people that are having to buy the game all over again because they got banned.

You are aware that Blizzard has a little program in Diablo II (downloaded with the patch, so no one is aware) that sends information from the game to them. Well, The Map Hack people have developed a program (Maphack) that does alot of stuff, but it also keeps this little bot from sending the information about it. I know this really isn't factual or anything, but head over to BlizzHackers and they'll tell you. The coded it in ASM, that's all I know.,

      Some thoughts about the issue:

Don't really se why blizz would ad spy ware into the patch,,, if you log on to bnet they get al the information they need coz your computer is constantly communicating with the server, only way to disable it to play offline.. A new hack is always detectable but if blizz is not aware of the hack then they are not logging it,,, eventually they will be aware of it,, if not before then when the new hack reaches a site like BlizzHackers that is known to blizz and most likely crawled on regular basis.

About account banning,, this i don't understand,, anyone can create a new account and even cd key banning is ineffective,,, only way to stop it is ip banning or legal action as meny other companies have done in the past. Well actually i do understand it,, if they actually would take a stand against hacking the selling numbers would drop a bit.

Also map hack isn't that hard to disable,, a little server side update once a week would do the trick,, of course the hackers could change mh to work but makeing a new mh once a week would keep the hackers real busy.
Reason why they don't disable mh: They have to pay someone.

Well if battle.net can really trace maphack its a good thing I never figured out how to use it.

one person i have talked to said the only possible way they could track the mh program being used is by tracing those who are blocking packets... (which he claims is very hard to do being they cant trace what they havent recieved) but i dunno.... does it send packets to give them info?

wish we could get one of these maphack programmers to come on here lol

Ofcource your computer sends them info,, as example it sends cd key (othervise you could play without one), also the same info you se in the d2 log in d2 folder is resved by blizz when you log on,, d2 loader, ip, computer name etc are lister there at startup.

Dont think an mh author would come out and diskuss this issue in public... I hear they are shy

Its easy to use maphack and not get caught... But blizzards a bunch of geniuses with a lot of time on their hands.

I've been using maphack since January, and i've yet to be caught either. I'd say its a pretty slim chance of you getting caught.

I believe that the whole thing bout them being able to trace is all BS. A MH isn't really hacking or anything, it's just another game cheat. When you join a game you DL the map from Bnet onto your computer and a temporary file or what not. When running the so called maphack, you're decoding the files on your hard drive not hacking bnet. So unless they place some sort of a trojan (which would be a terroristic attack) they really have no way to pin pointing the MH users.

U guys are wrong if u think blizzard can't detect your mh. I used map hacks all the time. Probibally for about 2 years... never had problem... one day i login BAM NO MORE CD KEY! Map hack wasnt even enable to add a side note. Blizzard DOES detect your mh and i will never use mh again. I learned my lesson.
      Hope this helps

      peace

wow, lots of people here dont know much about maphacks..

the packet thing is what its on, the old c3po of 1.10 didnt block the packet which was for detecting maphacks, it just ignored it, and so there was nothing suspicous about c3po.

NOW, since they have the new warden module, that came with the patch 1.11b (wtf, 2 mb for fixing damn peace armor on a merc?? thats bs.) they can check what dll files are loaded into the Game.exe process. the maphacks of old loaded dll such as r2d2.dll and map.dll, while the new ones, especially sting's that hasnt had bans, only reveal the map but dont load any dll. they detect the maphacks from the dlls that are loaded.

also they dont monitor your path within the game -_- do you know how much lag that would cause if they monitor paths of every game on every server?
at least 8000 games,,, --> lots of lag.
