Werewolf compensation

Ive recently converted from classic after a few months of absence.

i started a werewolf druid, and am aiming for personal style of fury. My stats are below.

what i want to know is

* HOW DO YOU COMPENSATE FOR ATTACK RATING and DEFENCE?

lvl 20
str=70
dex=>40
vit=>35
en=base

i have shcking AR, and from what i read b4, the best to aim for is 74% AR? help me out... to rub salt in the wound... im new to the melee class :S

Oh yes and another thing. becuase i dont use a shield, how do you compensate for resistance?
