What is a 40/15max jewel? - Blizzard Sector

ok well i know about 40/15ias but what is a 40/15max jewel. I know, or am pretty sure the 40 in enhanced damage but whats the 15max? and why should i put in my barb's ss?

It adds 15 to your max damage - so, it increases your overall dmg by 40 and up's your max by 15

oh, wouldn't 15 increased attacking speed(ias) be better though??

Not sure if IAS would in fact increase weapon speed if you put it in a SS.
, I have heard varying opinions on if IAS works if inserted in shields (Pally smite excluded) vs increasing blocking speed.

Enhanced dmg and min/max does affect overall dmg when in a shield.

Ias DOES take effect if inserted in a ss....in any shield, it takes effect in any socketed item

40-15 ias does increase attack speed. I have tried it in arreats and s/s for a barb it seems to makes like your berserk etc much faster.

yeah go with 2x40/15 ias jewels youll see a big difference or try 1 of each.

i got 2 40/15ias jewels and added them. My attack rating didn't go up, but he got that extra 30ias(ss+gf) so he would still attack faster right? I just added them and then key ran i didnt actually try him out yet. lol my gf does about as much dmg as a normal ebotd now.
