I myself hope they do, I can't wait to jump into DIII and start a Hammerdin.

If they did feature a class similar to paladins I dont think they'll have hammer, more like zeal or smite. Things that the characters were known for since the start.

Truth, but you gotta admit Hammerdins in DIII would be sweet...

Well, if they do have Paladins, I really hope they receive the nerfing they so desperately need. Smite = evil.

It'd be nice if they came up with a completely new take on Paladins, somehow...

Barb = only class that returns from D2.

Only one they seem to be porting directly, at least. The Witch Doctor looks very much like the Necromancer, after all - goes to figure that a Paladin-like class will also be present.

the paladin will not be coming back. it was way to overpowerd on d2. smite kills everythign exept phyiscal immunes hammer kills everything and has massive damage, it deserved to be nerfed or taken away

I suppose that some kind of holy character will fill its shoes though. I mean, it's Diablo. There has to be some sort of holy character.

Yes, but have you noticed the Witch Doctor is like the necromancer? This comes to the conclusion that they will probably have something to replace paladin like warrior / knight, etc.

I'm kind of thinking that they might try something that's more magically inclined, like a Priest class or something of the like... sort of a holy Sorceress. And maybe they do something different with the Sorceress, like a Rune Knight or something - swap the two...

I was thinking that there must be some class with a physical ranged attack--like the amazon. Maybe some dart/knives character. Or even, maybe like a markmen with guns/technology (not Starcraft-like, but medieval).

Of course we will always find a way to over gear our chars therefore over powered as best as blizzard makes try and play together.

Not sure how they'd keep that consistent with the Diablo theme, though. Meh - we shall see.

It should be pretty clear that Blizzard plans on changing the life/game style of d2 so I'm pretty sure Palys is gonna be one of the few changes. Maybe a smiter/zealer type of fighter but I FOH/hammer are probably gonna be gone

Blizz has always had a warrior/Knight type character in the series, so one is most likely included in the lineup other than the barb. I'm positive they will not have the Paladin return as it was way to powerful and superior to most others in many ways. Based on the sound of it, I belive a different type of warrior other than the barb to be in D3 but more along the lines of a holy man without so many battle skills if that makes sense lol.. something about the priest (said in above posts) is probly more likely IMO.

Edit: Forgot to mention, hammers are about as likely to reappear in d3 as diablo mating with Andariel to have a Iguana demon spawn child. lmao

As if Hdins weren't boring/cheesy enough in D2.

If there is balance enough in the world, a guy that throws spinning hammers through his armpits would be nerfed to oblivion.

Well I dont think they will make so many new classes...the new one will just have a different name but will play the same way like in d2
