i've tried editing one of my characters and weapons using hero editor (zonfire) but when i try to play the game i keep getting "bad inventory data" or "bad character data"... does anyone know wot the problem is??? maybe its the attributes i set for the weapons??

also i dont seem to be able to change the number of sockets the item has... some other questions:

1. is there a way of changing the damage range of weapons (e.g. instead of 30-40 u can set it to 100 to 105)???]
2. wot is ethereal??
3. can you give your own item name???
4. i cant change "item is socketed (0/3)" to any other value... when i do i get an error message "you cant change this by editing this value. add or remove socketed items to change this"... how do i solve this problem???
5. if someone could create a guide to creating items i would really appreciate it

thx

ethereal makes it so that the weapon can never be repaired its useless unles ur gona make it indestructable

to add dmg to bows u gotta go to edit wep on the extras window and then magic something and then go to the first box on top and click and go to dmg and go down till u find damage and then increase max dmg and min dmg :)

hope dis helps a wittle bit

Talking editing problems/solution - 08-30-2004, 07:08 PM

i do not know if this will work with alll systems but you can try the following

i have norton on my pc it has clean sweep and other practical apps for freeing up space

put any jpg or paint gif you have on your pc onto a floppy ALL OF THE PICS ON TO FLOPPY
pics take up too much space and can create bad router info for programs and lag your pc down

get rid of any extra programs you are not using uninstal or delete them

free up as much space as possible and then run a defrag or disk clean up
run a windows fix error program and any thing else that looks like it will help

note some pragrams write **** to the hard drive so alt control delete and close everything but what u need ( explorer norton)

this might fix all errors it did for me

\

hope this helps a.w.h

unless i'm greatly mistaken, right click on the area in your inv, stash, or person, and select import items, but make sure that you've downloaded one of the item packs available on this fine website "www.d2sector.net/downloads" and go to the file that you saved the items under, and import them thus. capisce?

uh huh.

KillaD01:

If you are using Hero Editor V0.82, it will usually tell you what, if any, problems that it sees with your character file. If you are using an older version of Hero Editor, then your problem might be that you are trying to open a character file that is from an older D2 patch. Hero Editor is only able to open character files from the V1.09D and V1.10 patch. So, if you haven't upgraded your D2 to the V1.10 patch, just login to Battle.Net and your D2 will automatically get updated to the V1.10 patch. Then open and exit/save each of your Single Player characters in a D2 game, and they will get converted to V1.10 patch character files. Then you should be able to open and edit them using Hero Editor.

If this is not your problem, then you will have to give us more information about the details of the problem you are having.

Maurader, I expect that you must have something configured incorrectly on your computer. In your file manager (Explorer.exe), start it up and check your File Type association for ".zip" files. You need to make sure that the Hero Editor zip file that you download gets unzipped by a program other than quicktime, lol.
