Ok is it just me or does ladder lag more than non-ladder? I know for a fact that I periodically super spike because of my antivirus program. It is ZoneAlarm Pro with Antivirus - latest version and up to date. Now it runs in the background and works well. But if I turn it off I get uncontrollable pop-ups over time and it's not linked to any spyware my 5 spyware programs can find. So if anyone knows how to reduce lag I would appreciate it. Things im looking for are:

-Lowering lag by Antivirus program
-FPS enhancer

I have Earthlink DSL and runs fine [except for cd lag] but in ladder I spike over 3000 ping every 10-30 seconds, and I mean EVERY 10-30 seconds, no matter what I'm doing. PLEASE HELP!!!

that is really messed up sorry i cant help much but i was thinking do u delte you history and cookies and stuff, casue if they save up enough stuff then you can get pop ups from that. also the only way that i know to get fast fps is getting a better video card, but i doubt that will have any affect on your lagg problem.

I've tried everything. Deletion of all internet files, the cookies, and even the cache [which made the internet slow for a few hours]. No effect.

Guess this problem is related to the popup problem you posted the ohter day..

Sense you cant find the spyware/trojan or whatever it is that causes the popups,, you dont have alot of options left..

- You could continue trying more spyware hunters and av programs,, and perhaps get lucky and get rid of the problem.

-You could take your computer to a shop and se if they can fix it (downside it costs and no guarantee they will solve the problem)

-If you have a backup HD you could reinstall windows then reinstall programs and transfer back your files,, (this should be the last thing to do)
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Its always possible that the lag is caused by trouble on your ISP's side,, before you do anything you should check with them if there has been any trouble lately.

To reduce a tiny bit of d2 lag you could try D2Accelerator,, Foxbat resently retired from modmakeing but before he left he released a final Version of D2Accelerator

u may haev a trojan or other virus working its magic on your comp. if u haev anythin like akzaa or morpheus thats the problem.they are open door ways to trojan infections and other viruses.

I used kazaa for a bit then stopped. I scanned every file I downloaded and found nothing. Now I'm using LimeWire :)

Now earlier today d2 was nearly lag-free... =O
But after about 1-2 hours of play it starts acting up again and I have to restart my comp.

And Tatum, I click the update button on everything.

Then revert to Spikes method : Save all important files on a disc or floppy. Then go do a System Restore a week back. that might help. it helped me remove a bug that lagged my comp ... i think

I dont have system restore activated. I was talking to Spitfire about it and he told me to turn it off because one: I never use it and two: it slows your computer down [supposedly].

Yes, it does, and if there was a virus on your PC at the time, it will restore that as well. If you trust me enough, you could always send me a remote assistance request. If I can actually look around as if im there, it would be much much easier to see whats going on.
