What do you think of Brandon Sanderson writing the final installment? pepereina1 08-20-2008, 09:46 PM I read it! Very good in my opinion. Kinda dipped in the middle I felt but a very good read so far! Favourite character has to be Lan, something very very cool about that man :D I dunno, I've never read anything by him, is he any good??? Nethran 08-20-2008, 11:41 PM Dunno, haven't read him yet either... He has a website, though, where he chronicles his progress on A Memory of Light. I need to hit a library sometime to check out some of his stuff. Anyway, they're my favorite books. :) Favorite Character is Mat, because he's like 50% of the humor in the books. Obfuscate 08-21-2008, 05:06 AM I've read the series and absolutely loved it. Kinda dropped the series after Twilight though. Mat, the wolf guy, is by far my favorite character in the series. If you liked Robert Jordan you should try, if you haven't already, Terry Goodkind's Sword of Truth series. Not as deeply detailed writing but the story is very gripping and doesn't take a book and a half or so to pick up, I personally thought the first book was to long for a plot builder and dragged, it seemed, endlessly. Also, Raymond E. Fiest is another great author along the same lines as Goodkind and Jordan but a bit lighter reading. pepereina1 08-22-2008, 02:39 PM I presume you mean Perrin, the wolf guy??? Terry Goodkind, must look out for him. I've read most of Feist's stuff, very enjoyable I found! Also really like David Gemmell if you've ever read him?? Pamela 08-22-2008, 10:30 PM I have read most of it..VERY good series..Lan won my heart,I just can not explain WHY...the whole concept was brilliant and a great read for people that enjoy books. Bright 08-22-2008, 11:09 PM Never heard of it. Nethran 08-23-2008, 01:22 AM Universal recently bought the movie rights to The Eye of the World. :) On imdb, it's listed as coming out in 2011. Sam Raimi is directing a mini-series based off Goodkind's books thats suppose to air this year. "Legend of the Seeker" (2008) (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0844653/) Aemaeth 08-24-2008, 09:47 PM I've read the series and absolutely loved it. Kinda dropped the series after Twilight though. Honestly, it should be rotting on fanfiction.net where it belongs, it's bland and cliché. Nethran 08-25-2008, 03:11 AM I liked it. :x I liked all of the books. It slowed down, but it never died out, and the endings of all of the books were good. pepereina1 08-25-2008, 12:32 PM Universal recently bought the movie rights to The Eye of the World. :) On imdb, it's listed as coming out in 2011. Really? Can you actually see them making the films though?? With the sheer amount of books and amount of primary characters.... That would have to be some film budget..... Nethran 08-26-2008, 08:22 AM I think they'll end up cutting some stuff out. What though, I'm not sure... I'd like to see them try to make the movie, but it would be way better as a miniseries. pepereina1 08-26-2008, 03:06 PM Yeah, they'd have to cut out loads, a miniseries sounds like a good idea! So how do you think it will end?? Nethran 08-27-2008, 09:29 AM I've thought about it a lot.. and I have no idea, lol. The question throughout the whole series is whether or not Rand will live.. and that's still the question. There are so many ways RJ could have gone with it with him living and with him dying, so there's just no way to tell. pepereina1 08-27-2008, 12:24 PM Yeah, its hard to see him not dying but ya never know! Its going to be very interesting to see how it all ties together now, can't wait myself :D Nethran 08-27-2008, 02:13 PM Have you been following along with the progress on Brandon Sanderson's site? He says he's half-way done with the first draft, based on it being a total of 400,000 words. :) pepereina1 08-28-2008, 09:51 AM I haven't actually looked at him yet, must check it out properly! Nice, this sounds really good, hopefully the change in writer won't be too noticable, it'd be a shame for the last book to be completely different. Nethran 08-28-2008, 12:40 PM He said once that RJ had a lot of the book finished already, and it's just a matter of him bridging the gaps and filling in the spaces.. I'm sure he'll rewrite some of it, though, just to keep the flow the same, but with everything RJ left for him, I think it will *mostly* seem like he wrote it instead of Sanderson. I could be wrong though, so we'll have to wait for it. xD Nethran 10-19-2008, 01:47 PM eBay Seller: gkitchens: Collectibles, Toys Hobbies items on eBay.com (http://shop.ebay.com/merchant/gkitchens_W0QQQ5ftrkparmsZ72Q253A1423Q257C39Q253A1 Q257C66Q253A2Q257C65Q253A12QQ_psizeZ3QQ_sacatZ0QQ_ trksidZp3911Q2ec0Q2em14?_trksid=p3911.c0.m14) 5 days left on the naginata, which I'm sure is only as high as it is because he used it to write the description of Mat's Ashanderei(sp?). |
