A mod is a modification to the game, e.g Median. Basically its just the same thing but different.

Most mods (or modifications) are intended to be played on Single Player. Those who with to play with others can legitimately be done so through TC/IP (in which a program called Hamachi creates kind of virtual IP's and is probably the most useful way to play a mod like Median), or you can play through Open B.Net.

On the more illegitimate side, there are places online where you can find user-created servers to play upon. I wouldn't involve myself with this, but it's not my decision what you do.

One of the top sites to find information on mods is the Phrozen Keep. Google it if you wish. Also, if you are looking for Median support you probably won't get that on the PK. Because of some controversey, the Median forums moved to their own separate forum (you can also Google that to find it).

Basically, as Nex said, mods are simply modifications of Diablo 2. I started playing them because I got bored of the same old (vanilla) Diablo 2 playing experience, and wanted some new gameplay. Mods involve things like new items, monsters, levels, (sometimes) quests, etc. They are a pretty fun and fresh change to the same Diablo 2 we have been playing for the past X years.

I DID laugh at Nex's "It's the same thing only different" Mostly because that is how I would describe it too!

Lolz I saw that and was like, "AHH so thats what it means!!" The same thing just different, I love it Haha. I say that all the time.

Ha ha, thats just my absolute basic way of understanding/explaining things, did i mention that i got 10/79 questions right out of y last maths test? I'm not the brightest person you will ever know, but that Australian youth for ya.
