Hey guys,

I got a Q about unlocked cellphones because I am thinking of getting a new one but instead from a single carrier, it will be unlocked. Question is will the unlocked cellphone work with a prepaid plan or do you need a plan with a contract to get the unlocked phone to work. Thinking about getting the new Nokia 5610 Specs & Features (Phone Scoop) (http://www.phonescoop.com/phones/phone.php?p=1341) unlocked but wondering what kind of plans will work on it.

Also if it does work, does the carrier have to be compatible with the GSM on the phone. Ty guys.

EDIT: Bah, 50 views w/o a reply, found my answer using google. nvm

What you need to know is what network your prepaid service is using. The Nokia you linked is using the GSM network. Virgin Mobile for instance uses the CDMA network so this phone would be incompatible.

Comprende?

bah, little late guys but ty

i shoulda been clearer but heres the situation: If I were to buy a prepaid sim card, would it work in a unlocked cell phone because i realized im not talking as much so im downgrading.

but so far, all the go-phones exclusive to 1 carrier arent so good so i am looking for a nice unlocked cell phone instead. my cell died and its pretty outdated and my music player broke, so the cell phone in the first post seems to fit my needs more clearly.

But its cool, i found out my answer but wanted to be clearer on the GSM compatibility (gsm 900/1800, tri-band, quad-band, 3g, etc.) with a carrier. So far, I understand better and I have chosen the t-mobile prepaid plan.
