Misunderstanding came to a close, however, since another blue poster explained the company has IT departments that work around the clock.
Drysc (http://wow.qj.net/tags/drysc/12820) clarified that Tech Support, the World of Warcraft's arm responsible for "answering e-mails/phones/snail mail (seriously)/faxes/etc," operates 8AM to 8PM in overlapping shifts (http://www.qj.net/Blizzard-extends-Tech-Support-and-Billing-Account-Service-hours/pg/49/aid/90978). There's no need to fret, since development related staff who actually address in-game problems (http://www.qj.net/WoW-player-harrasses-woman-in-game-gets-beat-up-by-woman-s-husband-IRL/pg/49/aid/91058) are on-call 24/7 365 days a year.
"If your sound isn't working, or the game is crashing, that would be Technical Support," said Drysc. Even when Tech Support is not available, in-house Blizzard designers, database engineers, server technicians, programmers, community managers and the like work non-stop to make sure World of Warcraft is up and running.
