How to make…… Basic Grunge Sigs

Tools needed:

Photoshop
Basic knowledge of photoshop

Step 1:

Choose a Picture

Select two colours from this picture using the dropper and set them as foreground and background colours respectively.

Step 2:

Open a new image, any size will do really, I used 350 x 130 for this tutorial and go to filter > render > clouds.

Then drag your first image into this new one; it will form a new layer, layer 2.


Your colours may vary depending on which colours u took from the original picture, but as long as it blends together fairly well, it’s ok.

Step 3:

This is the main part now, you need to download some grunge brushes, I suggest www.deviantart.com (http://www.deviantart.com/), they have a good selection of grunge brushesor go here (http://www.division.org.uk/heretic/Downloads/frame1.zip)

Once u have loaded these brushes onto Photoshop, start applying them in a new layer to your sig using the colour black. After u have put a decent amount on, make the setting from normal to soft light. This should fade your brushes into the background slightly.

Step 4:

Repeat step 3 using different colour brushes and different setting; colour burn and overlay sometimes work well.

After u have applied about 6 layers MINIMUM, your design should look like this:



Step 5:

Add text and a border and maybe another picture, and you’re finished!

I love it I know almost all there is to know about photoshop after about an hour a day of learning for 2 months. ^_^. Now all I need to do is learn how to play the guitar. lol.

ive have photoshop for.. oh i dont know... 3-4 hours? im horrible at it righ now :(

lol Just look at tutorials. Its gotta be something your determined at though or youll just get sick of it.
