It seems like every post on this site is that damn bot. Is there like a post quota set by the sponsors for this place or something?

i find the bots pretty useful, actually. not all of them, but a few everynow and then.

Yeah but its like chemotherapy, the level of help it provides isnt anywhere near the realm headache it causes.

thats a good way of putting it, but that could be used differently
like that needle therapy. the more thats added, the more good it'll do.

I was thinking about it today, every post is basically the news bot, once in a while I will catch something that is interesting, but other than that it's pretty annoying.

Probably looked in the wrong forum.

Silver, thats only 12/16 of the posts. 3/16 is in the hacks and dupes section (or some other random D2 section) asking for help/stuff. 1/16 is actually real posts by members.

Everyone come up with new stuff to discuss, and have the ratio of actual posts:bot posts be more even, and perhaps it'll look a tad less overpowering.

I personally don't mind the bot posts because I can just skim right by them, and even with those, there are still usually like 20-30 threads for me to see at a time, which is nothing compared to the Internet as a whole.

It was probably worse earlier when there were PS2/Xbox360/Wii/WoW bots to deal with, and how sometimes the WoW posts seem to repeat themselves.

well if there ever going to be a change to the bots, i would love to see their threads marked in a different color, either bold or idk blue??? It would be soo much easier to see actual ppls threads and i wouldnt end up skipping them

I find it annoying when I go to the new posts, and more than half are bots, so changing the colors of the thread would be really helpful.

It's not like it takes ages to sort through posts.

These are valid concerns and helpful suggestions. This thread needs to be reformatted and placed in Help and Suggestions, under the thread How would YOU improve the site?

I will edit and add where Spit asked Dan about this.

Who mods the tech forum? I'll put the news feed to post as thier username.

Me. I have a few sites that I looked at, and earlier today I decided to stop waiting for you to use the bot (I asked b4 i was a mod) and just do it myself :P good timing.

Either we think alike or you used the same site I linked to about 20 min before you posted your bots news o.O

Set the tech news bot to check for news every 30mins and post under your name.

Let me know if there is another site you want checked with a decent RSS feed.

Yay bigger post count! I'll see if there are any that I really like that should be added, but it would probably be the same news so repeated posts.

Since the bot posts a ton of news every day, I'm going to delete news thats a week old, if it has no responses. If it garners a response, I'll keep it. This will keep the news section clean, and stop my post count from hitting 10,000 before Pam.

Sounds good.... Is there anyway to do it for Diablo 2 sites?

If there is any with an RSS feed then yes. Also depends on how they have setup the RSS feed. Some have google ads in them so with every post it will put the ads for the other site :| :|

Dan if there are a lot of double thread posts for this bot set-up just let me know and I'll help clean it up. I already watch for Spits, but honestly it seldom occures. *point/laugh/snicker@Spit* Did you just ask who YOUR Mod was for Tech forum?

Ok this is how it happened. So there you have it.I could not post a link as this was in Admin.

How bout it just post a bunch of links in like a news thread? Instead of making 50 million threads

Because of the way the bot is set up hun.I don't know how Spit could rework it, since it relies on feeds.
I think the color designation is a good Idea, and Spit really is interested in how members think the site could be improved.

What is helpful to us is,not only stating what is annoying or a problem. Be proactive and suggest specific changes on improvement. That is what I need to see.
