View Full Version : My god... Metalhead Steve 12-11-2007, 03:15 PM I woke up this morning and it was raining...
I got to thinking about the sun, odd because I never think about this sort of thing. I thought about it and came to conclusion that if I have any kind of "god" it is the sun. Without the sun we could not exist, life would be void. The sun can give and take life away. It has a life span, and one day when it ends life on Terra will end as well.
The sun makes our weather and weather takes away life, weather also gives life. Weather forces creatures to adapt. The sun may not be all-knowing or even animate but it creates and destroys. Therefore if there is a god, it is the sun. I am still an atheist in this respect and nothing changes. I am just thinking philosophically I guess. jedimaster86 12-11-2007, 08:55 PM Seems like pretty scientific rather than philosophical. I'm kinda apatheistic, so I'm not saying I don't think much differently, but I may go polytheistic on this one and include the moon, along with other creations of the Earth that help to maintain the life of homo sapien. You go worship an inanimate object. That wont be stupid at all. rolleyes: Ya i agree with blue here....thats why for the past few days ive been worshiping megan fox Daddy_XL 12-11-2007, 11:24 PM Well i Live in the Valley of the Sun. So im glad its rainy and cloudy out. 85 degrees in dec is so unnatural. I like the cold weather of the Christmas Season. I get to actually use my heat and wear long sleave shirts. Nice warm furry blanket too. hellsing293 12-12-2007, 12:03 AM By the time the sun's energy runs out and destroys the planet Earth(billions of years), I think humans will have found another inhabitable planter outside the solar system to live on. The death of the sun won't be the death of humanity in my opinion. The Mob 12-12-2007, 02:31 AM ya. we will have managed to kill ourselves by then. ya. we will have managed to kill ourselves by then.
Not that this is totally stupid and insane. Think of this. Natures had a huge hiccup every 85billion years, and a species of animals were entirely wiped out. We are on 88billion I believe. Who do you think will be wiped? Seeing as we don't adapt to the environment, we adapt the environment to us... Well, you get the idea. Metalhead Steve 12-12-2007, 10:12 PM You go worship an inanimate object. That wont be stupid at all.
And you can worship an invisible man in the sky who always needs money...

I said life on Terra (earth) The Mob 12-13-2007, 02:35 AM er.. the earth isnt even 10 billion years old.. so i dont know where you got that "nature starts over again after 83billion years" And you can worship an invisible man in the sky who always needs money...
I said life on Terra (earth)
Since when does God need money? I think you're twisting the practices up. You're majorly confused buddy.
Edit: Mob, maybe it was million, I don't know, but I do know that I never said nature restarted. I just said there was a big extinction every 85million years. Every church service I have ever been to has asked for money. If god was so great why doesn't he just make money materialize? The Mob 12-13-2007, 11:37 PM er. nothing in the world is free after all.
how else would places of worship pay the electric bill, water bill, or maintenance? Metalhead Steve 12-13-2007, 11:48 PM er. nothing in the world is free after all.

God should make them exempt from paying for anything, or pay for it himself. That is my point. Daddy_XL 12-14-2007, 04:56 AM Every church service I have ever been to has asked for money. If god was so great why doesn't he just make money materialize?
Paying Homage is more for the Priest/Pasture of that religious location. Just like bake sales and other fundraisers they do to pay for the staff, materials, and building expenses. Metalhead Steve 12-14-2007, 04:49 PM I MYSELF would never pay to be lied to... I think it is just great how people do it just to aleviate their guilt. |
