I usually do it in hell mode, I got a few nice circlets from it, also nice pair of gloves and a belt, I just usually just a look for a high level item and just imbue it, don't know if the item level matters, but yes, I got some great mods doing em

Most people, including myself, do the horadric malus quest. It is quite useful, and you can turn an ordinary white item into a godly item. What matters is the clvl, not the mode (normal/nightmare/hell). Which explains why people often saves their imbue quest to later level as their item would be able to gain more prefixes and suffixes. As far as I know, pelts or circlets are the most common item to be imbued. However, players do imbue low level items for their vLLDers and LLDers at a certain low level in order to obtain what they wanted on the item.

Cool, never knew difficulty didn't matter, means I got quite a few to do, hope I get some decent goodies

i always imbue diadems, they usually come out bad anyway, but i still do it. if a diadem drops in a baal run, i usually mule it for imbueing later.

malus quest is very good if ur imbuing tiara/diadems (highest magical quality), and it doesnt matter whether u do it in norm/nm/hell cuz the skills added are solely dependent on the ilvl of the item.

If you are talking about the old duped boots "imp shank", they are not spawnable anymore.
