View Full Version : techno/trance is not music unknowndrummer6 08-18-2007, 11:16 PM it seems to me that everyone who plays online games loves techno and trance
so pretty much the trance crowd is teenage boys with loads of acne, who drink gallons of monster per day
i do enjoy going to raves and im a big fan of armin van and paul van
but i will not call it music
if a computer makes it and doesnt require any skill or actual instruments then it is not music
same with emo and screamo Aemaeth 08-19-2007, 03:32 AM How astute. rolleyes:
Typical predjudices of a meathead.
I wouldn't go so far to try a and dissaprove of an entire genre when allthough trance is terrible, Techno is a larger term, Lot's of artists use instruments to make samples, And that requires some skill, half of them also produce their own work and have extensive knoweldge of mixing and sound recording technology.
Stick up a better arguement. it seems to me that everyone who plays online games loves techno and trance

so is loopmakerz
and im not a metal head
zeppelin is not metal its pure ****in awesome Kyle Destroyer 08-19-2007, 04:21 AM You're right.....because you don't like something, it's not legitimate music. Although it takes quite a bit of skill to make it, even if it's computer generated. Besides, emo and screamo use real instruments too, want to me why they aren't legitimate?
I hate most rap music, the lyrics aren't deep, and it's all about sex, but I still recognize it as music....
close minded tard. unknowndrummer6 08-19-2007, 04:31 AM You're right.....because you don't like something, it's not legitimate music. maybe you didnt read my whole post
i still like but i wouldnt consider it "music"
it doesnt require talent to loop shit
also emo and screamo doesnt require technical skill
just chord playing skill
also im the the least closeminded person on music SilverTears 08-19-2007, 05:56 AM Actually, mixing does take quite a skill. It takes a while to learn how to mix good. I can't really call it music, more like beats. I still enjoy it though unknowndrummer6 08-19-2007, 06:35 AM Actually, mixing does take quite a skill. It takes a while to learn how to mix good. exactly but mixing is more like djing
like dj krush
and dj shawdow
but i dont see much mixing in trance or techno KazeCloud 08-19-2007, 06:50 AM I am 16. I do not like Techno and Trance. Some teens do like Techno and Trance and ARE kind of annoying, but not all of them. I do find that stating that Techno and Trance are NOT music a little too harsh. I like Hip-Hop and Rnb. =] Mushroomhead18nc 08-19-2007, 07:12 AM umm guys. last i checked. anything with a pitch or a key is called music. it doesnt matter how its made of what its made with. u can bang pots and pans together and it would be music. not good but still music. so maybe u should rephrase your thing to trance/techno isnt good music. i like it cause like someone said earlier its not easy to make a good techno song like sandstorm or something. it does take skill just like it does to make rap or metal or rock or yes even emo. but i dispise emo. yet its still music SilverTears 08-19-2007, 08:51 AM exactly but mixing is more like djing

It's not all done in one just like that. You need to mix things together. unknowndrummer6 08-19-2007, 09:07 AM i know that
usually multiple laptops are being run
my cousin does shit like that
he uses three
one is beats and loops
the other is mixing in shit
and another with sounds, atmospheric shit and add ons Nubli 08-19-2007, 09:21 AM A computer does not create techno, a computer provides the beats available to the user. The user then uses the beats in a creative order just like any music (well most anyways.) Henceforth, techno is music. Outbreak 08-19-2007, 09:51 AM Mush head is right man. Anything and everything is music. You step out your front door and if you listen close you can hear it. Just because you don't like something doesnt mean it isn't good. It just means you don't like it. Just because you don't like techno or emo or screamo doesn't mean it isn't music, it's just not right for you. Emo or screamo isnt about ****ing shredding on guitar. I don't really know what its about... I guess whose voice can go the highest or trying to be really cute and getting groupies. Who cares, its music despite whether they have sweep arpeggio solos or not. Maybe they're not as talented as Led Zeppelin, but I personally can't stand that faggots voice. Page was great though.
Understand that different genres of music are there for different purposes and just because YOU don't like it, doesn't mean the guy next to you doesn't. I don't like country, or this shitty rap about drugs and alchohol and *****es. BUT I RESPEECT IT. Because those faggots are making more money than I ever will, and they're doing something that thousands of people love.
Anyway. If you can't respect all types of music, then you're just another meathead. So kill yourself. nyndro 08-19-2007, 09:51 AM Ok first off let me school yall about electronic music:cool:
1.techno/trance/house/Dn'B/breaks/hardcore/ etc. -It all takes musical theory
to write and uses the same chords, scales, modes and song structure, that any
other genre's use. WTF? u think u can just push a computer button and BOOM!
its made.? NO! electronic music is made several different ways:
keyboards,trackers,groove boxes,sound modules,software synth,vst and
midi controllers. As far as these cheap "loop" programs only noobs and stupid
people who think they can play guitar use these for a backing track. These are NOT used to make "real" electronic music. So yes electronic music does use
live intrutments, appartly yall have never been to a samash or any other instrutment store
2.As for "unknowndrummer6" do your research, before u speak again, k thx.
and btw if u wanna "hate" on techno or any other genre. Look at yourself.
Led zepplin? cmon no one wants to see a old-washed up geezer with a
nasty hairy chest and super tight pants. And as for "skill" any pimple faced
wanna-B guitarist can play "stair way to heaven" its so ***in lame and annoyin. And yes i play guitar myself and i can tell u that jimmy page
is just a rip-off of old american blues music. He brought nothing new to
guitar at all, except him using a violin bow on his strings like a idiot.
Real guitarist are: paul gilbert, steve vai, buckethead, dimebag, jimi hendrix,
stevie ray & alot others i forget to mention.
3.Music is Music, if it has a beat, a key root, and structure it is music.
=====this is my first post====cuz this topic pissed me off====
===and yes i play diablo2======if any wants to colab on some songs
email me, i can lay down guitar tracks and compose any type of eletronic stuff. unknowndrummer6 08-19-2007, 05:48 PM Ok first off let me school yall about electronic music:cool:

your post meant nothing the minute u mentioned steve vai and dimebag hit.it 08-19-2007, 06:10 PM techno, with the proper ingredient drunk:, can be ****ing sick Mushroomhead18nc 08-19-2007, 06:20 PM your post meant nothing the minute u mentioned steve vai and dimebag
what does that mean? that makes no sense at all. if you are referring to dime and vai not making real music then you are legally retarded. if u dont like em fine. most people dont like instrumental guitarists. but most people who play a real guitar and is good at it loves instrumentalists. i mean ppl that play guitar as in electric not guitar hero. but you need to specify more in your posts Kyle Destroyer 08-19-2007, 08:18 PM your post meant nothing the minute u mentioned steve vai and dimebag

If you're going to make idiotic remarks then at least be consistent, close-minded tard.
Also, I looked up the definition of music.
1 a : the science or art of ordering tones or sounds in succession, in combination, and in temporal relationships to produce a composition having unity and continuity b : vocal, instrumental, or mechanical sounds having rhythm, melody, or harmony
It sounds like techno and trance are, in definition, more valid than your 70's music.
I do not have a biased opinion, I am actually a big fan of led zeppelin and I really don't like techno at all. I just hate when people like you post shit like this. unknowndrummer6 08-19-2007, 09:27 PM what does that mean? that makes no sense at all. if you are referring to dime and vai not making real music then you are legally retarded. if u dont like em fine. most people dont like instrumental guitarists. but most people who play a real guitar and is good at it loves instrumentalists. i mean ppl that play guitar as in electric not guitar hero. but you need to specify more in your posts

ive seen em live
and i walked out

nah dude im the least closeminded person on music
i just find that techno and trance dont require as much skill
as if i were to put together a blues album
and also
techno will never ever ever be more valid than classic rock | |
