I know someone on another forum who is flamboyantly gay and takes every insult as a compliment. It's really quite funny how he's turned these hateful words into a somewhat positive aura.

Ok I am stepping in at this point,because I helped write the rules for this section. Mods can be flamed like any other member,they also have the right to defend themselves,like any other member.

A persons race,religion,and sexual orientation are considered personal attacks and is not allowed. If flaming goes back and forth for an extended period a Mod has the right to break up the fight.

Example: a thread titled "Aemaeth is gay!" is against the rules.

He has stated openly that he is,but flaming him constantly for it is against the rules,not to mention childish and a waste of time for me to read.

I suggest this cease,and flame for mistakes,hair color,or bad breath...even being a moron is not against the rules folks.

I have a buddy who's also gay, he's that type that is completely straight in every single way but his orientation. Basically you wouldn't know he was gay, till he told you.

Also, I was pretty against the gay lifestyle till I met him, and found out it's not really all that big of a deal.

The banning has expired.As Zero can attest ,he is by far my favorite member to pick on and argue with(Zero that is),and well able to defend himself.
Bigdeath was targeted in the past by a few Mods and some changes were made to address this,not only to him but other members as well.

However you're right in the sense that pedophiles / internet predators etc. are a legitimate threat to people on the internet, I don't think the insults should be which is what I would think most people mean by saying "The internet should not affect your real life...." Of course I haven't read this in context to what you're referring too but regardless.

I really think BigDeath should have been banned, however it seems hard for Aemath to justify that when he didn't ban Pantallica (and even if it wasn't his section he still supported Pantallica for it) for posting naked pictures here.

Now I suppose I could make a joke about Aemath not banning Pant after posting pictures of a guys asshole but then I might get banned too.
