Why do scorcs use telekenesis on any build besides a pre for teleport?

Correct. Normally you lose 2 mana for each life that would be lost. But with a lvl 16 telekinesis you are only losing 1 mana. And with 20 you are only losing .75 for each absorbed hit point.

Basically for an es sorc, telekinesis is mandatory (lvl16). It enables a godly dr (mana wise)
