bah i feel like i need a guide to post on this forum.

hi, i've used d2loader for years under windows xp, but now i've switched to ubuntu 6.10 & i miss d2. what i want is to be able to run my 4 copies of d2 from this computer w/o use of cd rom drive. i have all the required cd keys. i need a noob friendly walk thru that explains everything. :P i switched to linux so i could learn but i gotta start somewhere...like with why stuff does what & all that common sense stuff. anyway;

i can't get it working, and the docs out there aren't of much help, neither are most the ppl i talked to. hope somebody here can help basically;

d2loader dont work & if i run with cd i get unable to id app version. i read on ur site that game.exe could be corrupt but how to i replace it if so?

k here's my issue from ubuntu forums:

got it installed, and it starts up w/o a cd. for me that's progress.

only issue is i get this error. (attach2) i tried to go to a console to quit the program cuz i couldnt see a mouse but when i press ctrl alt f1 it throws up on me (attach2)... i think its got to do w/ envy but i thot i got rid of that.

i have a crash log if anyone needs to see it. i dunno what it means but its got something to do with fog.dll. that screen thing in attach1 has me worried....do i have to reinstall the os?

hope i explained things ok, if any more info is needed let me know.

why does it keep saying im trying to SPAM im not putting ANY links up.. damn

Run "winecfg" and create a new application profile.

Add Application -> Choose "D2Loader-1.11b.exe"
Windows Version -> Windows 2000 or Windows XP
Audio -> Select just ALSA
Graphics -> Unselect "Allow the window manager to control the windows"
We do that to be able to press Alt/Shift and mouse buttons at the same time while playing. It's a must-do for Diablo
* Leave anything else unchanged (I assume you already set the "Drives" properly)

Run "D2Loader-1.11b.exe" and enjoy
