Wow, a thread about religion made it to 6 pages, shocking. Just to pitch in, if you study a majority of the major religions closely, you will see that they generally all believe that God exists. It's where it comes down to the biblical son of God that people don't agree on.

I used to be a devout christian. I have, however drifted off and studied various religions and watched the evils that religion brings: hate, war, segregation, intolerance, and even apathy. Yes, apathy. People do not care about what happens to this world if they think that they will go onto a better place, they don't try to improve things here, they merely seek to escape it.

I refuse to have anything to do with religion. I can burn in hell, if that's what will happen, but, I refuse to have anything to do with religion. I'm atheist to the core now.

Well, I am actually not Christian, I guess Buddhist, more like family tradition.

But anyways, I was flipping channels and saw the Christian channel, where this asian guy, his name was something prince, was speaking to us about how to be a person. I totally believed in him and agree on how we should be a person under god. I like how Christian tries to teach people how to be a better person. But I do not like it if it is heavily depended on god. I just like the - to be a good person part. lol

Well I believe in God...but follow no set denomination...I read the Bible and I try to be a good person....I do not *preach* to others...I advise as a friend.

Do you read the bible to be a better person? Because you really shouldn't need a book to be a "good" person.

The me that thought of a God or omnipresence is just illogical but to each his own, although some take it way to far.

Agreed. That and what I've seen religion cause (I know it's not everyone! But, I will have nothing to do with it so long as any zealots exist, which means never), and having read the bible... it's not pretty. Especially the old testament. Slavery, brutality and intolerance are taught by the old testament.

I also do not truly BELIEVE in him. But I truly agree with his teachings and how to be a better person. Don't you guys agree.

Pam, try not to be such a cynic. Not EVERYONE knows that almost every religion in the currect worlds believe in God. Even Satanists, who worship Satan, have to acknowledge God as Satan's creator, as well as their own. And "preaching", can come in many differant forms. For instance, when someone does something, for whatever reason, and you don't agree with them and start to tell them why, that is a form of preaching. Forcing your faith and religion onto others through words is preaching, trying to advocate someone to accept views, beliefs, and morals that they may not agree with.

Not to destroy the credibility of your posts but Satanists do not worship Satan(a very common misconception). It is about being your own God, worshiping yourself and doing what you feel like doing.

Yes, explain why God made stupid people that make posts that don't make sense, and why he saw fit that some people can't put a sentence together correctly. By all means use yourself as an example.
