Wow the new topic link is hard to find.
Anyway, if you use that cube recipe to give sockets to an eth weapon, will its damage increase the same way an eth armor gains more defense?

Yeah, I am pretty sure that the damage does not increase, being that I tried this before and didn't notice a difference.

An item being Eth over normal, yes, it does increase the damage.
Adding sockets, no, it does not increase the damage.

Instead of it being increased damage ive seen a few eth indestructable hoz's that have a jah in them instead of zod, but they were on ladder. However they got them on there i dunno.

In .09 people managed to have items with rune combo attributes that where completely clean of runes (w/ 6 sockets still), it wouldn't surprise me if similar things where going around today.

Why don't you test out your ebug question in sp, that should work. Or test it out on a shitty eth weapon just for the hell of it.
