Hi, well I'm playing single player with my summoner and I was wondering if I should go for mages. I won't have the best of gear and am looking for a build that can make it through hell. So, I've heard mages are only good if you max it but are they worth that many points? And will they be useful down the line in hell? Also, should I max clay golem/golem mastery?

mages are good for physical immunity creatures, and when you come up against them, just cast your lvl 1 lower resist

Physical Immunes aren't a problem because amp gets rid of that.
