SilverTears 04-24-2006, 02:24 AM Is there anything wrong with your comp or do you got a firewall blocking any ports to it? Lux Aeterna 04-24-2006, 02:31 AM If you've visited the steam site, and read the fact I said that it didnt help you'd realize your comment right there was completly incoherant.

And I've tried the method that worked the first time, but it decied to stop working... Any help? FraterPerdurabo 05-20-2006, 08:19 PM Maybe just reinstall it? Delete the core platform files (keep the game .gcf's) and let Steam redownload them. I can distinctly recall having the same problem ages ago, but I don't remember how I fixed it... If Firewall is on, try it with Firewall off. Also, are you sharing your internet connection? Lux Aeterna 05-20-2006, 08:44 PM I've tried reinstalling, and firewall is allowing Steam.
Yes, I'm sharing my internet connection via LAN, this isn't the host CPU either. FraterPerdurabo 05-20-2006, 10:14 PM Could be something with your router ;\
If you are sharing your net, perhaps you could try it on the other computers in the network? Lux Aeterna 05-20-2006, 11:15 PM Same exact problem there, mate. FraterPerdurabo 05-21-2006, 12:00 AM Well, then there is a 99% blatant chance that it's your ISP... If you can be bothered, try tunneling a connection, and direct it to another port? Are you in uni by any chance, because my brother has the same thing at UCL. He has to tunnel his connection, because many ports have been closed. Lux Aeterna 05-21-2006, 04:02 AM There are several ISP's which interfere with Steam traffic:
Dutch Telecom (Steam traffic blocked)
ISPFree (Steam traffic blocked)
TalkTalk (bandwidth throttling reduces download speeds)
Bluewin (Firewall blocks Steam from provider side - must be disabled through provider's service portal)I dont have any of thoes, I use Road Runner.
And I wouldn't know how to "tunnel my connection" either, or how to connect to another port. (unless thats ipconfig /release, ipconfig /renew which doesn't work.) fleaflickerx 05-21-2006, 06:24 AM i am having a problom it says my steam ID can not be authitcated by the server and i can't get in does any know know why? This is actually more complicated... Tunneling is a *****, and after that you will probably lag as well... Can you connect to battle.net though? Lux Aeterna 05-22-2006, 04:18 AM I can connect to battle.net.
