1 Ort Rune + 1 Amn Rune + 1 Perfect Sapphire + Normal (Basic) Rare Weapon = Exceptional Rare Weapon
The item type is upgraded.

so if you can get 2 ed mods, what if you got the highest possible of both? would you have like 500-600ed?? O_O

if you up it, it keeps its mods. The item just gets better so really it'll do more damage because better base weapon+better damage to enhance. Upping is like turning a extinguisher sword to a collosus sword. Or an ornate plate to sacred armor.

How do u know for example that a ornate becomes a sacred..... u got a site where it showes the order of the items to what they become ??

Highest possible ED is 450, Hellsing. 450 ED is not the best mods for a weapon, though. Especially when it's not eth. The best mods you should try and achieve are Cruel and Fool's. Plenty of damage and tons of AR. Of course, if you get one or the other (Master or Fools) it's not possible to get the other.

is this ladder only and can you do this with uniques? or just rares and magic

You can only upgrade uniques and rares.

Non-ladder: You can upgrade uniques only uo to its exceptional form. You can upgrade rares all the way up to its elite form.

Ladder: You can upgrade uniques up to their elite form, and also rares up to their elite form.

I forgot who it was, maybe Clerics, who had the best usage of Fools + Cruel mods, was like 250% dmg and like Fools mod or something like that with 40% ias. He sold it for like 200 hrs I believe.
Also, the 400+%'s are pretty common. Although 90% of the time I get them on like Daggers or Dirks and stuff.

lol that is a nice axe you have there.. My freind gave me this balrog blade 1 handed 400+ed industrucitble eth with 2 ohm's in it i traded it for alot of gear if i still had it i would post a s/s of it

not eth and no good mods besides the ed, I'd sell it

does it have to be rar to have 450ed? And if so, what if it was a cb with 3 sockets O_O or you could add 3 sockets if it was magic. add 3 40/15's you'd have 570ed with 45ias lol
