I know that the necromancer-only 'head' items have a defense value, and act sort of like shields. My question is that if you put in runes for shield runewords, will it still work as a shield runeword?

My necro is only level 10, so I'm still experimenting. Just need a little help. Thanks alot.

yes, they will work but they will be pretty crapp, as there are no good non 4 rune runeword shields, and necro heads cant have 4 sockets. better to get a unique, rare, or even magic head instead.

You could always make splendor...it's only EthLum to make.. it's pretty gg if you have a superior 2 sock nec head with some +skills... stats are as follows::

+1 To All Skills
+10% Faster Cast Rate
+20% Faster Block Rate
+60-100% Enhanced Defense (varies)
+10 To Energy
Regenerate Mana 15%
50% Extra Gold From Monsters
20% Better Chance of Getting Magic Items
+3 To Light Radius

But if i was you...I would just get a 35% fcr spirit...that's what my nec uses, if you can't afford that you could always get the cheaper homonculus or darkforce spawn.


But if you PK and you're bone nec :P..you could always get a 5 bonespear head...but you'd lack resists+defense+cast rate+fhr etc. that you can attire with other shields.

I think I'll use the splendor runeword. I like its stats better...I'll have fun with that in act IV in normal or nightmare, for now. Should be easy to get someone to bump me a bit farther. My necro's a summoner, and he's in act III right now, at level 10. =D

I'll be looking for a demon or gargoyle head to stash....

what is an up'd hommy? is that an elite level item?
