View Full Version : A tragedy Silver Ice 11-15-2005, 08:10 AM this ones for you, Nub.
President George W. Bush visits a primary school classroom. They are in the middle of a discussion about words and their meanings.
The teacher asks the President if he would like to lead the discussion
on the word "tragedy".
So, the illustrious leader asks the class for an example of a tragedy.
One little boy stands up and offers: "If my best friend, who lives on a farm, is playing in the field and a tractor runs him over and kills him
that would be a 'tragedy'."
"No, says Bush, that would be an 'accident'."
A little girl raises her hand: "If a school bus carrying 50 children
drove over a cliff, killing everyone inside, that would be a tragedy'."
"I'm afraid not," explains the President. "That's what we would call a 'great loss'."
The room goes silent. No other children volunteered. Bush searches the room. "Isn't there someone here who can give me an example of a 'tragedy'?"
Finally, at the back of the room, a small boy raises his hand. In a quiet
voice he says: "If Air Force One, carrying you, Mr. President, was struck by a 'friendly fire' missile and blown to smithereens, that would be a tragedy'."
"Fantastic!" exclaims Bush. "That's right. And can you tell me why that would be a 'tragedy'?"
"Well, says the boy, because it certainly wouldn't be a 'great loss' and it
probably wouldn't be a ****ing 'accident' either. d2 nub 11-15-2005, 08:15 AM lol nice onelaugh: FrogMan 11-15-2005, 11:03 AM haha now what it must just happen for real fleaflickerx 11-15-2005, 08:35 PM hahaha, nice i wish iit would happen. TroGdoR 11-15-2005, 09:32 PM I'm sorry. We aren't here to wish death on political members of the U.S. This is not the purpose of jokes and pokes and those of you who find it fair to talk about that stuff in this section are kidding yourselves.

haha now what it must just happen for real
sure seems like they are wishing people to die to me... DaCougarMech 11-17-2005, 03:05 AM yup. real serious and genuine with the haha's
i may not agree with bush but i dont wish death on him Bloodangel26 11-17-2005, 03:11 AM saying you wish someone would die is not something to joke about....so if they are joking then they have poor senses of humor. and if they arent joking, then they are terrible people
even if you wanted bush to die on air force one, what about the other people on the plane? do you wish death for them too? honestly if something did happen to air force one the president would be the most likely to survive out of all of them, because they would give up their lives for him. "joking" about brave people like that dying is extremely uncalled for and anyone who does should be punched in the face [/sarcasm] 11-17-2005, 03:35 AM This should have been closed. Good joke, uncalled-for posts. Bloodangel26 11-17-2005, 03:36 AM it was closed but nub reopened it DaCougarMech 11-17-2005, 05:06 AM im not saying it's right. but it's not something to close a thread over pyrocrow 11-17-2005, 05:16 AM It's a funny joke. I bet if it were about Kerry or Clinton or anybody THEY don't agree with, they'd have left it open. GG personal opinions + power. Bloodangel26 11-17-2005, 06:25 PM "Hey this joke bad mouthing Bush and people are jokingly talking about death threats, better close it!"

completely untrue...the only people i dont have a problem with "wishing death" or even joking about dying is saddam hussein or osama and his terrorists...even then it makes me slightly uncomfortable....more like i wish justice on them...which may involve their deaths CheshireCat 11-17-2005, 07:04 PM joke

A mischievous trick; a prank.
An amusing or ludicrous incident or situation.
Informal.
Something not to be taken seriously; a triviality: The accident was no joke.
An object of amusement or laughter; a laughingstock: His loud tie was the joke of the office.
Now that we all know the definition of a JOKE, we can all lighten up and stop taking everything so seriously. People, stop turning every damn post into an argument because you disagree with the content. This section is "Jokes and Pokes", not "Come find an excuse to get pissed off". Anyone with common sense knows that there are going to be things in this area that they might find offensive.
I agree that if it were someone you guys could care less about being spoken of in that sort of joke, you would probably care less.
From now on, if you see a joke that you find offensive, PM me and tell me why it offends you, if the reason doesn't sound ridiculous, I'll remove the joke. Don't argue about it in the threads, and don't PM me about this joke, my offer only applies to furure posts.
