How do I "install" the downloaded characters that I got from this site? I ave never done it before.

its quite simple

just right click on the zip and press extract it'll make a folder on desktop

double click on folder and there will be char name and some other files u need all of those.

highlight em all and ctrl+c or hit edit at the top and press copy

find ur d2 folder usually C:\Program Files\Diablo II or w.e else u installed it go to the save folder and drop em in, NOt the folder inside Save just inside save itself

Dude, those characters are quite odd.. I was hopeing for like a real character or something...I dont have those chars no more. I will just level mine and get gear myself.
