Amazon The Amazon plays like a slightly more battle-capable Rogue from Diablo I. She can hold her own in one-on-one combat but truly excels at ranged weaponry. Her two options are the Bow and the Javelin.

Default What do you think of this possible build? - 12-31-2007, 08:24 PM

Hey, I just got back into D2 and I was thinking of making an amazon (far in the future of course, I have no items currently ;P) Anyhow, I loved em in 09 but they sucked in .10 and are back to pretty cool atm it seems. What do you guys think of this equipment build?

CoA 2 40/15 jewels
faith mb
fort
cats eye
raven
stat/res/leech ring or whatever else
boots as each situation calls for them
Draculs for gloves probably. Maybe throw some kb ones if need be.
Verdungos for belt? maybe mav's for r/w (I love a fast zon, though I guess it's not that important in 1.11 with enigma)

For a merc I figure I'd have a might merc with Pride, dream, and fort/stone.

Anyhow, how do you guys think that would work? I figure it'd have good damage, ability to life tap, decent res, highest rate of attack possible and so on. I figure she could do pvm or pvp. I may be totally off base here, but please don't flame, I've been away a long time :-P Thanks for any input!

Calculate the key stats (such as +res, FHR, FRW, IAS, Leach and so on) to see if that's your best gear setup then work out the changes from there until you have the desired amount of whatever.

yeah upon further reflection, I would say dump the dracs and coa and maybe do Rockstopper and Bloodfist. I know I know they're not like super uber items, but Rockstopper adds huge res, dr, and fhr. The Bloodfist adds a little bit of ias, fhr, and a nice life boost. I'd still hit the big ias bp and all. Thoughts?

Do not listen to beoron he knows 0 clue on how to build a bowzon what you want is a 120/45 helm with frw or +life. For gloves use kb with ias. Verdungoes is nice but a better choice i believe will be Nosferatu's Coil for ias and other mods.

No need to be rude. You're missing the point of the build I'm suggesting though. A helmet like that would add useless ias, and same for the nos coil. Both would put me way above the needed ias for max bow firing speed. The point of using the matri bow would be to lower the amount of ias gear I have to wear, so that I could wear things with fhr, res, and so on. Nos is BM in dueling anyway and I'd prefer not to be a ****. You should've paid attention to the OP.

Also, I'm not writing a guide, so telling people to not listen to my question is silly.

You are wrong.

Well anyway, which IAS% breakpoint are you aiming for?
And is this for PvM or PvP predominantly?

With a matri bow, you only need 45 ias if you have lvl 14 or 15 fanat to hit the top ias break point. So if I had bloodfist (10) a helm with a jewel (15) and a Cats Eye (20) that's plenty enough ias. Adding another 30 on a hat and another 10 on a belt wouldn't do me any good. If I'm wrong it's because the calculator on amazon basin is wrong, that's where I looked it up :P. I was planning on doing some of both pvp and pvm, probably mostly pvp though.

I like the idea of this build because I'm not tied to one set of gear, because the ias I need is pretty low. I can switch stuff around a lot. Throw on a gold wrap and change gloves, etc.

Why's everyone so tense on here? An amazon build on D2 is nothing so serious ;P

Haven't played in like 2 years, but correct me if I'm wrong.
Lvl 15 Fana from Faith = 33% IAS
7 frame IAS with Matri bow requires 142% IAS

???

edit: use this calculator, it's about as good as it gets.
edit2: 3sox Giant Skull with 100 life is basically the best bowzon helmet.

Yeah you're right about the ias needed for the top break point , but fanat is a bit strange. I at first thought the same thing that you did that it only added 33 ias like the skill says, but it works a bit differently than that. The calculator you linked to shows that as well. Just put 14 in the fanat box, and 45 in the ias box, and it says you're at 7 fps. Someone I read said this is because fanat is calculated differently.

So, I think this build would be good because I could switch i9t around a lot. I could wear a 3 socket helm like you mentioned with ias jewels and then I wouldn't need ias on any of my other gear and could switch taht all around. I could wear res stuff, tele stuff, most anything.

Anyhow, I'm not saying this is the end all be all, but if I ever get not poor, I think I'll try it.
