I don't think anything is *WRONG* with our system. At times it may be handled incorrectly, but the system itself is not wrong. All I would suggest is tightening them up.
There are some vets that are complete morons which kind of make the rest of us look bad. Maybe instead of an auto-change, the *PERSON WHO HAS X POSTS* should have to notify an admin that they have reached x posts and humbly ask for veteran status. That way, if the person is a total retard then they cannot make vet by filling our forums with useless garbage.
The legend status should be more restricted too. The mods should be more strict when giving rep and take into consideration whether or not the person is doing it solely for rep (nobody come and say that I am flaming you. This statement is not directed at anyone in particular. If you feel a reason to speak out against what I am saying right now then you obviously have self doubt about previous actions). This way only former mods/people who really deserve legend get it.
Another aspect that we can fix is to not have people have double status. I know yellow is cute and all etc, but it should go. People new to the site may not know that you are a mod with your yellow name and may not be around long enough to know to look for the group bar.
Just my two cents. Over time the way user status has been handled has changed. The site has pretty much deteriorated to mostly people *WITH* statuses only. When the site was more busy and had more regular members, status distinguished certain members. Now it really doesn't matter since over 50% of the people who visit daily are vets or higher. As long as darkness flows through my veins, I will never cease, As long as my dreams still haunt me, I will never show mercy, and as long as evil lives I will never die..... |
