I play offline... but I play.
Used to play MP a lot (a lot more than you think) when P1.08 was out, then I quit (for many reasons, including an unexpected kid on our neck -oh but I love her, she's my little treasure-).
Some time ago I dusted off my D2 copy and had a new blast with patch 1.11

MP is out of the question. Bnet is too full of unworthy players for my likings.
With that I'm not saying that all players are the same... but finding the wrong ones is way too easy, and I tend to befriend anyone. That's a problem, actually.

So I play SP most of the time. Once per week me, my brother and 2 friends (with their laptops) get together for some LAN play.
There are people who get together to Flight Sim, and there are people who do it for D2.
That's real fun, you know? You can't understand until you experience it.

As for the goodies which we're unable to get in SP/LAN modes, I've modded our own games, heavily in some case (fixed a couple bugs too), and now there's nothing we can't get, that you out there can in MP.

Trading is when we get down to the most serious business. We follow our own economy, based on real world economy. Items are associated with Titles, with Microsoft being the Zod Rune, to make one example.

I only miss the chat... at times it was pleasant to have someone to chat with. I mean... someone who would not fill your screen with LOL, LGT, ACHOO, BY, ZZZ, WU!, ASD, COA, CAO, CEO, UEO, AIO, HOTO, ATCHAA, HORA!!!, and all kinds of acronims... Made me feel like I was using a PlayStation... baah.
During LAN play there's no chat. We talk. (we curse, mostly *cough*)
Oh well, nothing is perfect...
