| No offense but everything you said is false. First off Finals have nothing to do with why they are laid off for so long. Its because the BCS and the big Confs want to milk as much money out of it that they can. That is why there isn't a playoff. To add two more games, every player will tell you that they wouldn't mind it at all. What takes more of a toll on their bodies is to be laid off for over a month and a half, and then be expected to play a hard hitting game.
Byes in football are over-rated since a lot of the time the team with the bye, and home field advantage looses in the first round because they get cold.
