| For most DSL modems, you are on a dynamic IP. Dynamic IP means you are assigned an IP address by your ISP, and it is not always the same. Turn your modem off for a few hours at least and the last digits should be able to change. The way an IP works, is as you reach each sector it narrows you down more and more (Country-Province\State-ISP, etc.).
For cable, call your internet service provider and tell them you have had an issue with a hacker and wish to change your IP. They do not do it normally, but with a story of a hacker you should be good.
If you use a static IP (an IP address that never changes normally), open the My Connections folder, right click on the connection you use and choose Status followed by Support and finally click the Repair button.
