For starters, check two things:

1) Make sure the Options tab in Hero Editor has all values selected in the "top" position, except possible Option #5.

2) Make sure your D2 game is using the V1.10 patch (or V1.09D). If you start a D2 game, and login to Battle.Net, your D2 will automatically get updated to patch V1.10. If any of your character files are not updated to patch V1.10, then just load and exit/save each character into a V1.10 game.
