Nah, screw bone for PvM. I'd either go with a Summoner if You're Über rich and can afford the best items, other than that I'd go for a Poison Necro.

This is just a simple guide to a decent Poison Necro. It needs a lot of souping up since I haven't tweaked with it for a while.

PnB tree
20 Poison Dagger
20 Poison Explosion
20 Poison Nova
1 Teeth (prerequisite)
1+ Corpse Explosion
1+ Bone Armor

Curse tree
1 Amplify Damage
1 Iron Maiden (useful to have occasionally)
1 Decrepify (not necessary, but extremrly useful when doing bosses, requires 2 skill point prerequisites)

Summoning tree
20 Skeleton Mastery
3+ Raise Skeleton
3+ Raise Skeleton Mage
3 Revive
1 Clay Golem (prerequisite)
1 Blood Golem (prerequisite)
1 Iron Golem (some people prefer this over the Fire Golem. Only use this if You find enough decent equipment from which to raise it. e.g. IK Maul, 40%CB, Iron Golem is the ultimate Bosskiller minion)
1 Fire Golem (even if You use Iron Golem, this is a simple synergy bonus)
1 Golem Mastery
1 Summon Resist

As You may see, this really is a hybrid Necromancer fit to take anything down. The emphasis is still on the Poison though, the army just provides the meatwall. The advantages over a pure Summoner is that You can actually make Your own corpses, so raising a meatwall army is MUCH easier. If You have more skill points left, I suggest any of the skills with a + behind them.

Equipment:
Helmet: Shako (Um if You desperately need resists [resists aren't all that important on this build], poison facet otherwise)
Armor: Bramble (Awesome poison damage, +Thorns for Your minions)
You don't need Enigma for this build.
Amulet: Mara's
Ring: SoJs
Belt: Arach
Boots: Marrowwalks
Gloves: Trang's
Shield: Homonculus

If You cannot afford this setup, full Trang's is also fine, but You'll lose a lot of killing speed. FCR is unnecessary with this build. Why? Have You ever seen those retarded necros spamming Poison Nova? Well, if spammed, it's not as effective. Cast, wait 2 seconds, cast again. You'll get the hang of it easily. If You encounter poison immunes, just cast Amplify Damage, wait for Your skellies to take one enemy out, and the *boom* spam Corpse Explosion. Once when I was in Hell mid-lvl-70, I spammed an entire room in Tal Rasha's Tomb with Amplify Damage and corpse explosion. I got about half a bar of experience, for about 10 seconds of work.

Oh yeah, and stats are self explanitory:
STR: enough for eq
DEX: none really. If You want max block with the Homonculus (best necro blocking shield), You may put a few points here, but if You are getting hit with this build, then You're doing something wrong.
VIT: rest
ENE: none
